9 months to go!

March 17, 2008

The first quarter of 2008 is almost over and we still don’t have a final concept for our reunion.  We encourage everyone to post their comments after this entry.

Date.  So far, December 29 has been agreed by most people.  Overnight man or dili, 29 is a good date since the day following it would be a holiday (Rizal Day).  And of course, many of our batchmates based outside the city will be in Iligan because of the Christmas season.

Venue.  So far we have two choices on where to hold the reunion – either sa City or sa Beach.  Either way, we need people to scout a good place.  There were early suggestions of Duka Bay and Initao, pero murag dili na feasible because of the price and distance.  Either we rent a place sa city (bar or function room), or rent a big cottage in a nearby beach, or better, if a kind batchmate offers his house for the reunion.  Things to consider: beach might be cheaper, but city is more accessible, and more people can stay late in the city than the beach.  J

Budget.  How much is everyone willing to pay?  Is P300 to P500 range enough?  This will cover the food and venue.  We’re also hoping that the successful ones who couldn’t make it to the reunion will donate some cash.

Some notes:

  • Christian actually offered that her company takes care of the venue, food, lights, etc.  This is really good news since we have a point person in Iligan to look for a good and affordable place and equipment.  Hi Christian!  If you can post what kind of services your company can offer, please put them in the comments below.  And if you can give estimate quotations as well, since you have a rough idea of the Iligan market.  J

  • The Grand Alumni Homecoming.  If I remember correctly, the silver batch (1983) sponsors the homecoming, and the 10th year batch (1998) is required to help.  Is this correct?  Who among the people in Iligan can help out the silver batch?  Would you guys know what kind of help they’re expecting?

  • As suggested by other people in the e-group, should we consider other activities for our reunion?  Somebody mentioned charity work.  Personally I don’t think this is feasible, but if a lot of people can volunteer, then maybe we can do this.

Other inputs?  We encourage everyone to post their views and comments regarding the date, venue, budget, etc.  The list of batchmates with contact details is still with Balut and Cyril, and after they update the file, it will be posted in this website.

Have a holy Holy Week everyone!
